Migration, Colorado

from $125.50

In "Migration, Colorado," Glen Wilbert photographs two geese flying low over a wide stretch of still water at dawn, the birds small and centered against soft mist, a faint tree line, and a pale sky touched with a single patch of pink cloud.

The image holds a quiet pastel palette of muted blues, grays, and warm browns, the calm water below shading from cool to soft gold and the far shore dissolving into morning fog. Glen placed the pair of birds at the center of an otherwise open and minimal frame, so the two dark shapes carry the whole composition against the empty water and sky. The reflection of the sky on the still surface keeps the lower half soft and almost weightless.

The scene was made on Colorado water at first light, capturing a fleeting moment of two birds in motion across a calm landscape. It reflects what Glen describes as the decisive moment, here as quiet as the setting around it.

A study in pastel tone and stillness, where two birds in flight anchor a soft, open scene.
